Live in the moment is much more easier to say than to do… I learned to live that way couple of years ago, when I started to run my own company in Finland. Time flies and all the things, feelings and achievements you reach in those moments, when you are developing yourself in your career, job or studies is worth of enjoying in that specific era… Even though those would be hard, sad or frustrating feelings or moments. Because you cant get that time back…My time in International Dance Academy (and I think everyone else can join my feelings here) has been a journey. For all of us this is gonna be a unique year that we wont forget… Feelings have gone up and down, but the coolest thing is that, we are learning so much from ourselves. How we develop as dancers and performers, how we can live with each other sharing every space, room, privacy, and what so ever with all our classmates.Sometimes you just got to get out and get it loose so weekend trip to Las Vegas with good friends is just perfect for that…
This year is also providing unique opportunities to try your wings in a crazy show business world. How your body and mind handle the pressure of hard training, performing to the audience in a very short practice time, and process to make big shows with cleaning the details just weeks in a row…Same spots, same choreographies, same moves and songs all over again for weeks..
Our training period in Los Angeles is also like a dream come true for many of us. Many of those choreographers that you have admired in youtube, movies and music videos are suddenly in front of you, teaching you, giving tips for dancing and auditioning to you… Its amazing when you realize that you are living your dream…
After a hard training week, the best way to reward yourself is to get a good pizza in legendary rock restaurant Rainbow Bar & Grill in Sunset Strip. Even though you are a dancer, girl gotta eat you know.. 😉
Here in La you never know what the next day brings you up. For example a week ago, I noticed that the in my pole-dance studio (I take pole dance classes here in my free time) is going to be a photo shoot by a really famous photographer who`s works have appeared in magazines like ELLE, Vogue, Rolling Stone etc. I hesitated a bit, because I would have thought, that if I ever have an opportunity to try something like that I would have to have like a month to train for it. But nooo, like our principal Søs said; you always have to be ready, because they wont come and pick you up from home. So I went there, with shaking hands and legs, asking stupid questions and feeling like I was all over the place…The whole photo crew was awesome, there was a make up artist to put you the right look, stylist to pick up the best style to wear and a person who was helping you with the positions. It was so hard to stay up in the pole, stretching your lines to the limits and giving your poses and attitude… But it all went better than I ever expected. The photographer even took head shots of me, and he praised me a lot. Now the pics are in edit, and I’m gonna get them in a couple of weeks… Anyway, it was such a great experience and I had so much fun…
Unofficial pic from the pole shoot…
